Legal Library Service
Prenax’s acquisition
In May 2008, Legal Library Services was acquired by Prenax. As these things go, it was not a typical
transaction in that the spirit underpinning the deal was custodial rather than acquisitive. In other
words, when Prenax bought the business, the proud and international tradition built by Brian and Marian
Murray’s team of service excellence and product knowledge was carried forward by Prenax. Indeed, the
Yeovil premises act now as Prenax’s UK head office and the LLS team that helped build the reputation
is still there – working with their clients as they have done for many years. Furthermore, the members
of the Singapore-based team have been brought under the Prenax wing.
In early 2010, the many legacy systems (all six of them) that had formed the basis of LLS’s technology
platform, and had, if truth be told, hampered rather than enabled the team’s ability to service our
clients, was replaced with Prenax’s state-of-the-art software. The migration project was completed in
summer 2010.
Today, Legal Library Services is comprised within the Prenax brand but maintains a separate customer
service, account management and publisher relations teams owing to the specialised nature of the business.
The LLS portion of the business does what it has done for over 25 years: providing services to law
librarians, legal administrators and fee earners. We supply books, looseleafs, journals, research and
grey material, newspapers and electronic media as well as offering advice on content; telling our
clients where and when they can get it.
In October 2010, Prenax decided to open an office in Melbourne in order to support our many clients in
Australia and New Zealand, as well as providing a platform for further growth.
In the same month, a new slick book ordering function was released to our clients which was extremely well received.
